Prunus can be deciduous or evergreen trees or shrubs with showy flowers in spring, and often good autumn foliage colour. Some have edible fruit in autumn, and a few species have ornamental bark. ‘Kanzan’ is a medium-sized tree with branches that arch upward in a vase-like shape. Foliage is a leathery, coppery brown. In the spring it will burst into a pink explosion as its branches are laden with beautiful blossoms. Plant in full sun, in a well-drained and moist soil.
