Prunus can be deciduous or evergreen trees or shrubs with showy flowers in spring, and often good autumn foliage colour. Some have edible fruit in autumn, and a few species have ornamental bark. An elegant variety, ‘Brenelia’ has larger, wavier leaves than that of the species. Its stems are a deep wine-red throughout the season. Flowers are nicely scented and white, blossoming on numerous racemes from mid to late Spring. Thrives in full sun but will tolerate most conditions.
