Prunus lusitanica 'Angustifolia' is a more formal, tidier looking variety of the Portuguese Laurel. Its longer and narrower leaves grow on red-purple stems giving it an interesting appearance and providing some additional colour during the year. Small white flowers appear all over this evergreen shrub in summer, slowly becoming small red fruits by autumn. Grow in moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Suitable for hedging. Easily tolerates poor, shallow, chalky soil. Only needing one prune per year - if required at all - this shrub is low maintenance and very easy to care for.
