Photinia can be evergreen or deciduous shrubs or trees, with simple leaves and panicles of small white flowers, usually followed by red berries. ‘Red Robin’ is a big crowd pleaser when it comes to colour in the garden. Foliage emerges a vivid red and darkens to green with age. Grow in moist, fertile, humus-rich, free-draining soil in full sun to partial shade. Does not tolerate coastal exposure. A fast-growing plant, it should be trimmed back every year for a dense, bushy habit.
