M. stellata is a compact, broadly rounded, deciduous shrub with with narrowly ovate to lance-shaped, mid-green leaves and silky buds opening to star-shaped, white flowers in early to mid-spring. Location: Plant in moist, humus-rich soil. Some protection may be needed from late winter frosts. Care: Magnolia pruning should be carried out in midsummer when in full leaf. Approx. Height x Spread (m): 2.5x4 after 10-20 years.
