Golden Privet is a dense, large, evergreen shrub of erect habit with oval, rich yellow leaves sometimes marked green in the centre. Flowers are small and white, followed by a glossy black berry. This specimen will brighten up any garden while tolerating poor soil conditions, shade, and coastal exposure. Plant in any soil as long as it is free-draining in sun or partial shade. Minimal pruning is required for free-standing specimens but will handle regular pruning if kept as a hedge. Stop pruning in late summer to avoid frost damage on new growth.
