Figs can be evergreen or deciduous trees, shrubs or climbers. Foliage is usually leathery, with entire or lobed leaves. Tiny flowers are borne within a hollow receptacle that will enlarges to form the fruit. The fruit is edible, with a sweet flavour and slightly mealy texture. Perfect for picking and eating straight from the tree or for using for culinary purposes. It will ripen from green to purple. Plant in full sun in a sheltered location. Requires well-drained, moist soil.
