A large, bushy, deciduous shrub, or tree. The leaves have 5-7 slender, pointed lobes, opening a pinkish red in spring, developing to dark green, heavily flushed with dark red in summer, and turning purply red in autumn. Small purple flowers are followed by red fruits.
Site & Soil: Grow in moist but well-drained soil. Water in summer if necessary. Leaf colour is best in part shade but tolerates full sun.
Hardiness: Hardy in all of UK and northern Europe.
Eventual Height & Spread: 2.5m x 4m.
Other: Leaf scorch can by caused by dry soil or excessive exposure to frost, sun, or wind.
